TR sequences
The RNA component of telomerase (TR) contains the template that encodes the telomeric sequences and several other conserved regions that serve to bind the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) that contains the active site for nucleotide addition and various other proteins that regulate telomerase activity. Despite the common purpose and conserved regions, the RNA component is quite divergent between species in size and structure. The size between species ranges from as short as 147 nucleotides in the ciliate, Tetrahymena paravorax to the fungi, Candida albicans at 1554 nucleotides. Below are details on the RNA component sequences, the scientific and common name where applicable, the length, the GC content, the nucleotide sequence (.seq button), the genbank accession numbers are linked to the record at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), and original literature citations that are linked to the published online journal. The sequences are organized by taxon. The GC% content is not provided for putative/partial sequences. The GC% content has been adjusted, where necessary, to account for any adjustment to the 5' or 3' ends compared to the NCBI record, numbers in parentheses.
